Weingut Pittnauer

Gerhard Pittnauer inherited the winery at the age of 18, following the sudden death of his father and at the height of the Austrian wine scandal of 1985. Today he and his wife Brigitte farm about 15 hectares in Gols, half of which they own, and manage all the work – from the compost stage to pruning – without a preset schedule and with meticulous handwork. They were among the founders of the respekt-BIODYN movement in 2007 and have been members of the Pannobile group since 1998. In 2014 Falstaff named Gerhard Winemaker of the Year – the highest title in the Austrian wine scene. The by Nature series is made for light, fresh, accessible drinking; the Dogma series, named after the film manifesto of director Lars von Trier, is made with no added sulfur, unfined and unfiltered.
